A couple of weeks ago, I had an email from the people over at Sky Movies HD offering me the chance to go to the UK premiere of the new Star Trek movie in London. Playing into every stereotype of a web geek, i am of course a huge Trek fan (i would like to point out that i am just a fan, not a full blown uniform wearing Trekkie), so of course I leapt at the chance!
I arrived down in London’s Leicester Square on Monday mid-afternoon and watched some of the crowd build up. There was a small group of full blown uniform wearing trekkies at the front of one barrier, who had apparently been there since 10am! I gave the contact at Sky a call, and she handed me a VIP pass, and walked myself and a couple of other guests to the VIP enclosure, right next to the TV crews and opposite the press cameras! We had a great view as various celebs and stars of the movie arrived and chatted with the cameras. I seem to have managed to avoid getting my face into the background of the press shots, although i did spot my arm growing out of Simon Pegg’s head on one photo they showed on the Jonathan Ross Show last week!
After all the stars had gone in, we got to see the new movie, which was superb. Don’t want to give too much away, but if you want to know more, you can read a full review here.
