Adam Stewart joins the Barques team

Barques are pleased to announce their newest team member Adam Stewart who has joined us as a Web Designer. Originally from Nottingham, he joins us fresh faced and straight out of University here in Birmingham. Graduating with a Ba(Hons) in Media and Communication, where he specislised in web and digital media allowing him to work with clients from all different areas such as radio, education and even athletics with Birmingham based Birchfield Harriers.

In his free time he likes nothing more than to stick on some questionable music whilst getting ready to go out, or stay home and watch even more questionable films, such as a little known trilogy involving Zac Efron… the less said the better.

Even with his eclectic tastes Adam is warmly welcomed to the Barques team….

The Brenda Awards 2010

The cream of the Birmingham property industry came together for The sixth annual Brenda Awards 2010 on Friday 28th May at the Burlington Hotel, raising an estimated £23,000. This has beaten our total from last year by a staggering £5,000 so we would like to say a huge thank you to all who attended for your generosity and support.

The theme for this year’s ceremony was “I’m in property, get me out of here” which generated a fantastic response from the 350 guests who attended the ceremony, despite the questionable attempt at Geordie accents from comperes Ed Gamble (Jones Lang LaSalle) and Simon Robinson (GBR Property Consultants). As usual our interviewees excelled themselves and really entered into the spirit of this year’s theme despite being asked to perform some rather gruesome tasks like the Bushtucker trials!

This year was even more special as we had some of the children from the Ladywood News Team – last year’s benefactors of our fundraising, who wowed the audience with their thanks for all the camera and editing equipment that they have been able to purchase as a result of the Brenda’s.

Barques have won a pitch to secure the marketing for Newhall Square, located on Newhall Street in the Jewellery Quarter. This is a vibrant new mixed use development on the site of the former Science Museum on Newhall Street which will include a range of new and restored listed buildings set around a major new square fronting the canal. Newhall Square already contains a one hundred bed Travelodge hotel and will have a variety of commercial spaces including bars and restaurants, all set around a landscaped square.

We are thrilled here at Barques to have won the account and we will be starting work shortly on the individual lettings brochures, plus the masterplan brochure for the entire project. Watch this space to see the final designs!
