The Brenda Awards 2010

The cream of the Birmingham property industry came together for The sixth annual Brenda Awards 2010 on Friday 28th May at the Burlington Hotel, raising an estimated £23,000. This has beaten our total from last year by a staggering £5,000 so we would like to say a huge thank you to all who attended for your generosity and support.

The theme for this year’s ceremony was “I’m in property, get me out of here” which generated a fantastic response from the 350 guests who attended the ceremony, despite the questionable attempt at Geordie accents from comperes Ed Gamble (Jones Lang LaSalle) and Simon Robinson (GBR Property Consultants). As usual our interviewees excelled themselves and really entered into the spirit of this year’s theme despite being asked to perform some rather gruesome tasks like the Bushtucker trials!

This year was even more special as we had some of the children from the Ladywood News Team – last year’s benefactors of our fundraising, who wowed the audience with their thanks for all the camera and editing equipment that they have been able to purchase as a result of the Brenda’s.

Festive Frivolities at the Property For Kids Snowball 09

Tuesday the first of December saw the Property For Kids Snowball 09 held at The Jam House, and what a fantastic evening it was too.

On behalf of Property For Kids we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along, it was a huge success. Judging by the amount of people dancing we know you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we did! We raised a massive £650 on the night and £2500 from ticket sales so once again, a big thank you for your generosity. With a van full of over 350 presents miraculously split evenly between boys and girls, Pickfords will be delivering these gifts to a number of hostels and women’s refuges in Birmingham, Solihull, Dudley, Warwick, the NCH family centre and Home Start family support. We hope our efforts bring some happiness to those less fortunate than us this Christmas.

We also need to say a big thank you to our entertainers, Audio Jam and Hot Property, who performed brilliantly and kept us dancing all night!

Once again, thank you to everyone that supported us, for your generosity and for making it such a brilliant night, we look forward to seeing you again next year!

Langley Point’s Lavish Launch

Last Tuesday saw the exclusive launch of Langley Point, Trigram Properties latest grade A office space in central Birmingham. The who’s who from the Birmingham property scene turned out to take a look at the new building and to experience the incredible views from the top floor of the building, where the floor to ceiling windows give unrivalled views across the city centre. To coincide with Langley Point’s BREEAM rating, the event had a green theme with a locally sourced menu even down to the Staffordshire white wine.

It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves at the event organised by the team here at Barques and a big thank you to everyone who came along.

The Brenda’s 09

It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves at The Burlington for the 2009 Brenda Awards, organised for the fourth year running by Jilly, Ed Gamble (Jones Lang) and Simon Robinson (GBR).

The event was a huge success and yet again the commitee provided an afternoon of hilarity at the expense of a some Midland’s property professionals. Only a few got to take home a coveted Golden Gnome Award but they were all great sports and we are expecting them all back next year!

The recession seemed to have no impact on the generousity of the guests who raised a staggering £18,000 plus for the Property for Kids charity. The money raised will provide much needed filming and editing equipment for Ladywood based charity The News Team. TNT produces regular video news programmes for local schools and the community in the area of Ladywood. The children involved research stories, write scripts, film and edit these news programmes about what is happening in their local community. They use the media format to learn and contribute to community life and the projects also draw on important skills in the national curriculum.

Jammin at the Jam House

Good music, good dancing, good company and a good amount of drinking! There isn’t much more you can say about the Hot Property charity gig organised by Barques at the Jam House on the 25th November 2008, except that we all had a lot of fun and the band raised £ 3,653.00 for The Institute of Cancer Research and Cotswold Care Hospice.
