We are pleased to announce that Barques will have a new home come August 2010, when we will be moving across the road into number 23 Ludgate Hill, to be known as Ludgate Place. The ground and first floors of this character office accommodation are also available to let on a leasehold basis, with space ranging from 757 – 1,533 sq ft. Amanda Mease Joins Barques From Estates Gazette

Amanda Mease has joined Barques as Client Services Director. With over seven years experience in the publishing arena, Amanda joins the team from estatesgazette.com with bags of experience in the commercial property market. She has covered national, regional and online media in her time at EG and brings with her a huge knowledge of the media plus a wealth of experience in a number of regional markets, including London, Manchester and Birmingham to name but a few.

Outside of work, Amanda can be rather obsessed with her fitness regime, which includes a crazy British military fitness workout, long-distance running plus a few games of hockey here and there.

We are thrilled to have Amanda here and hope that her rather obsessive fitness regime rubs off on the rest of us!

Applicant will have a good knowledge of HTML, Flash using AS2 (AS3 not essential at this stage but would be a bonus), CSS, and have experience creating content managed sites using Wordpress. SEO experience would be advantageous.

Applicant should also have excellent client liaison skills and will deal directly with clients from initial enquiry, through pitching ideas to developing and presenting work. First class organisation, presentation and attention to detail essential.

Following the success of last year’s alternative MIPIM here in Birmingham, we have been inundated with requests to do it again this year so we are happy to announce the MIPIM alternative 2010! This year’s event will be taking place at Andersons Bar and Grill (the former Bucklemaker) in St Paul’s Square on Wednesday 17th March 2010, from 11am onwards with lunch to be served at 1pm. The cost is £60 per person which includes a classic Cordon Bleu French meal and wine (with meal only).

We were all delighted to find out that a brochure designed by Barques had made its way into the hands of the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown. Pictured at the MidTECH exhibition stand at The West Midlands Labour Finance and Industry Group (WM LFIG) luncheon, Mr Brown can be seen reading the brochure stood in front of the exhibition banners, both of which were designed by our fantastic creative team here at Barques..

Who knew our humble little brochure would make it into such famous hands!

Festive Frivolities at the Property For Kids Snowball 09

Tuesday the first of December saw the Property For Kids Snowball 09 held at The Jam House, and what a fantastic evening it was too.

On behalf of Property For Kids we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along, it was a huge success. Judging by the amount of people dancing we know you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we did! We raised a massive £650 on the night and £2500 from ticket sales so once again, a big thank you for your generosity. With a van full of over 350 presents miraculously split evenly between boys and girls, Pickfords will be delivering these gifts to a number of hostels and women’s refuges in Birmingham, Solihull, Dudley, Warwick, the NCH family centre and Home Start family support. We hope our efforts bring some happiness to those less fortunate than us this Christmas.

We also need to say a big thank you to our entertainers, Audio Jam and Hot Property, who performed brilliantly and kept us dancing all night!

Once again, thank you to everyone that supported us, for your generosity and for making it such a brilliant night, we look forward to seeing you again next year!

Luxury City Living at St Paul’s Place

Tuesday night saw a select number of lucky guests being given a sneak preview of the luxury apartments and offices at Chord Developments’ long awaited project, St Paul’s Place. With fantastic food from the F Word’s Best Indian Restaurant winners Lasan, and plenty of drinks all round, it was the perfect way to start the evening before heading down to the Property For Kids Snowball 09 at the Jam House to dance the night away! Jewellery Quarter Three-Legged Santa Race 09

Last night saw the annual Jewellery Quarter Three-legged Santa Race take place outside the Big Peg building, and of course Barques couldn’t resist putting in a couple of teams in the name of charity (and for the chance to see Kev dressed as a fairy!).

Raising money for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Kev and Dave along with Ian and Katherine took part in the 40m race with varying degrees of success, but thankfully we all remained on our feet and no injuries were sustained! Well, with the exception of a mild case of hypothermia for Kev seen as his fairy outfit provided very little warmth in the icy winds!

Congratulations to the winners, looks like we need to do some training if we want that trophy next year!

Congratulations to Jewellery Quarter Restaurant Lasan as they reach the final of The F Word’s Best Local Restaurant!

The team here at Barques would like to offer their congratulations to Jabbar Khan and his team at Lasan on reaching the final for the F Word’s Best Local Restaurant!

The competition started with 10,000 hopefuls and Lasan made it down to the final two in the Indian sector where they then got to appear on the show, testing their dishes on the critical audience. Lasan came out triumphant against Curry Corner and proved what we all know here in Birmingham, that they really are the best Indian restaurant around! After seeing off some tough competition in the semi-final from Argentinian restaurant Santa Maria Del Sur, Lasan have made it to Thursday night’s final of the F Word where they will be competing against British restaurant The Pheasant.

I hope you will join us in wishing the Lasan team all the best for Thursday and make sure you are watching The F Word on Channel 4 at 9pm.
