Now that the weathers getting colder it feels like the perfect time to enjoy a hot mug of mulled wine. Why not have a go at making your own with this easy recipe?
75cl bottle shiraz
1 thumb ginger
2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise
50g light brown sugar
- Pour your shiraz into a saucepan. Zest your oranges and thinly slice the ginger. Stir orange zest, ginger, spices and sugar into the wine.
- Cook over a moderate heat for 10 minutes or so until simmering and add more sugar if needed.
- Remove from the heat, cover and leave for 10-15 minutes.
- Reheat gently and serve with a mince pie.
