PR ACCOUNT MANAGER

We’re looking for an ambitious PR manager to join one of Birmingham’s longest-established creative communications agencies.

Reporting to the PR director, you’ll be responsible for a broad range of PR activities on behalf of the agency’s expanding client base.

You will need to deliver consistent results to tight deadlines, whether you’re devising content plans and crafting press releases, or managing media relations and crisis communications.

Ideally, you will also have experience in optimising content for use across numerous channels, making sure your output engages relevant target audiences in print and online.

A little bit about us

Barques is something of a hidden gem. We’ve been around for nearly 35 years now and are unlike many of our larger competitors.

Why? We’re a warm, family-oriented agency that delivers great work on behalf of great clients. Being independent gives us the flexibility to make quick decisions and empowers us to use our initiative in solving problems.

In return, we demand that our people work hard, manage their workload and support their teammates. At Barques, every person counts.

Typically, you’ll be…

    • Managing accounts and building effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
    • Developing, planning and implementing PR and communications strategies
    • Delivering consistent results to tight deadlines
    • Measuring and analysing performance, including regular reports
    • Collaborating with other teams across Barques in the delivery of multi-faceted campaigns

We’re looking for someone with…

  • Outstanding experience in PR or communications, either in-house, in an agency or as a journalist
  • A track record of devising PR/content strategies and optimising content for promotion across numerous channels
  • Experience in developing and managing a client caseload
  • Excellent writing, editing and communications skills, with the ability to identify a story and understand how best to tell it
  • Confidence in advising senior executives on how to communicate their vision in a way that positively impacts reputation

What we offer:

As well as the usual suspects, including a pension plan and a competitive salary, we also offer:

  • 30 days holiday, including bank holidays, plus extra time off for Christmas (including Christmas Eve)
  • A relaxed working atmosphere at our home in the heart of Birmingham, with great transportation links and within walking distance to some of the best pubs, restaurants and bars the city has to offer
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
